Our client is a highly regarded multi-disciplinary property and construction company with a dynamic history founded in development, consultancy, construction and operation of high profile projects. Having grown from being a small organization with highly skilled people to a top tier player in the property and construction sector within 20 years, they are now extending their stellar reputation into the utilities sector. Following recent project wins, they are looking to grow the project management team with a Project Manager with electricity transmission and distribution experience to deliver and further enhance their growth within this sector, whilst providing the opportunity for career development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of projects to time, cost and quality specifications, ensuring that health, safety and environmental risks and issues are managed throughout the project lifecycle.

This role will require travel throughout the UK, depending on the location of project sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing appropriate project input into the pre-sanction design process including review of the proposals for SHESQ management, project risks, deliverability, programme and safety performance.
  • Developing and/or supporting projects during the consenting phase to ensure robust designs and programmes are in place.
  • Managing the programme, budgets, SHESQ and risks and community stakeholders.
  • Supporting the development and have accountability for implementation and management of project delivery, design, safety by design, commissioning, scheme closure and post-completion requirements.
  • Acting as the key interface between the project and both internal and external teams. Holding the responsibility for developing these key relationships.
  • Managing and coordinating contractors and project teams, including the coordination and integration of projects across delivery interfaces, to successfully deliver projects to time, cost and specification and with minimal disruption.
  • Providing regular project monthly status reports which will include SHE performance, milestone progress, risk management and current and forecast financial performance.
  • Arranging for the provision of CDM Support for each project as required under CDM Regulations.
  • Monitoring contractor site activities to ensure compliance with SHES standards, health and safety, environmental legislation and CDM regulations
  • Managing the contractor commissioning and performance testing process on site. Ensuring the provision of accurate ‘as built’ documentation to handover of the assets onto the system to the standards defined in the design.
  • Managing complex third-party issues, land, consents, grantors, public relations and community stakeholders.
  • Chairing monthly progress and cost review meetings and regularly attend weekly site meetings.

Candidate requirements:

You have a degree qualification and a member of a relevant professional institute. You have recognised training or qualifications in health, safety, environmental. You have a EUSR safety passport (including SHEA Gas). You are TP144 trained. You have an understanding and experience in permit systems (PTW, FOA and NRO). You have experience with relevant legislation as applicable to complex projects. You have awareness in accident, incident and near-miss reporting and investigation. You have an understanding of the HS&E management system and requirements.

You have experience in technical documentation understanding (drawings, material data sheets and etc.). You have experience in environmental management and control. You have experience in the production and evaluation of RAMS/procedures. You have experience in undertaking technical inspections for site compliance. You have an understanding of the critical interface between temporary and permanent works and the requirements for the management of this through design. You have experience with NEC contracts. You have experience in the risk management process for both schedule and cost analysis. You have experience and knowledge of project handover records and CDM health and safety file requirements. You have experience participating in formal safety assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, HAZCON).

You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and will provide support to strong, motivated teams. You have experience in gas or electric transmission in a similar role in a consultancy and strong desire to develop your career.
